An award-winning journalist, Seabring Davis has worked in publishing for two decades as an editor, author, freelance writer. She focuses on architecture, interior design, the culinary arts, public lands and conservation advocacy, art and travel. She is the founding editor of Western Art & Architecture and former editor-in-chief of Big Sky Journal. Currently she is the "Dining Out" columnist for Big Sky Journal and a blogger for www.thelastbestplates.com. She is working (slowly) on her first novel and writes as an activist for the protection of Montana Public Lands, as well as the preservation of the Greater Yellowstone region.
She is the author of seven books. Her current cookbook tells the story of her own family's legacy as owners of a historic restaurant and vacation in Montana; The Western Kitchen: Seasonal Recipes from Chico Hot Springs Resort (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018).
Her book, A Taste of Montana: Favorite Recipes from Big Sky Country won the High Plains Book Award in the culinary category (2015). Other titles include, Big Sky Journal’s The New Montana Cabin (2008); A Montana Table, Recipes from Chico Hot Springs Resort (2003); and A Food Lover's Guide to Montana (2006).
Working with clients to help them tell their own stories, Davis worked with Locati Architects to produce a monograph collection of 30 years in mountain design, Hands On: Locati Architects (Oro, 2017). She served as editor, writer and project manager to create Gatherings (New Frontier Cooking, Skyhorse Publishing, 2015). Teaming up with chef Carole Sullivan and photographer Lynn Donaldson, she was the editor for the cookbook . She received numerous awards as a reporter for the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and helped launch the award-winning magazine, The Montana Quarterly in 2004. She is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
She has written countless articles and been published in Mountain Living; True West Magazine; AAA Mountainwest; Postcards; Montana Quarterly; Montana Living; Big Sky Journal; and Western Art & Architecture. She has contributed personal essays to America: The Cookbook and Unearthing Paradise, the Elk River Books anthology.
